How Has South Asian Music Been Influenced By American Music

Early American rock n roll of the fifties and sixties have influenced a wide vista of artists, painters, sculptures and bands from all over the world. Especially through the sixties and towards the seventies, American psychedelic and rock n roll dominated the airwaves in the United Kingdom and other European and Asian countries. Especially in South Asia where many traditional forms of their music had appropriated many elements of western music. For example, the use of the electric guitar became noticeable in South Asian music as well as the synthesizer and electronic keyboard. Whereas, in previous South Asian music these more western or American elements or instruments where never used before. Also in the late seventies South Asian music was influenced by American punk rock which saw the creation of many South Asian punk bands in the early to late eighties and throughout the nineties that was primarily influenced by the waves started in the United States. It has become more apparent over time how much American music has penetrated other music markets around the world, from American blues, country, rockabilly to rock n roll, hardcore, punk and contemporary music today.
